Scarlett Johansson (born November 22 1984 New York City New York, U.S.) American singer and actress whose dramatic range earned her popular acclaim across a range of styles from period dramas to thriller and action adventure. Johansson was born in New York City, and raised there by her father who was an architect and her mother, a producer. Hunter was the twin sister of Johansson was also born in New York City. At a very young age she began to develop a passion for performing and started performing in commercials by the age of seven. Soon after she enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and later attended the Professional Children's School in Manhattan for further training in her craft. In the Off-Broadway play Sophistry she co-starred with Ethan Hawke. She then had her first appearance in a film in North (1994), directed by Rob Reiner, at age nine. Johansson made her debut on screen in Just Cause (1996), but it was Manny & Lo 1996 that gave her her breakthrough. The film tells the story of two girls orphaned by their parents who have fled to escape. The film, The Horse Whisperer, Johansson played a teenage victim of an incredibly tragic accident. The role she played in Ghost World brought her more recognition as the troubled teenager Rebecca. Smith gained notoriety for her portrayal of Nell Jones on the CBS popular show NCIS Los Angeles. The award-winning actress has been among the principal characters on the show. She is also a talented stage performer. She delivered stunning performances in Wildflower and in other productions. Renee Felice Smith's path into the entertainment industry began from a young age. She was drawn to acting as a young child. Smith's parents supported her in getting her first role in the acting world at age six. She starred in a TV commercial for Dannon yogurt. Similar to many actors starting out, she chose to refine her art in the realm of theater. As she worked on other projects around the USA she made her theatrical debut in Wildflower. She graduated from her Stonestreet Studios Conservatory of the New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
